Gov’t Mule is back out on tour this summer with 13 dates dedicated to marking 50 years since Pink Floyd released their groundbreaking Dark Side of the Moon album. I was genuinely impressed with how Gov’t Mule handled their repertoire, especially Meddle’s electro-acoustic folk-blues number “Fearless.”

Gov’t Mule is back this summer with their captivating tribute to Pink Floyd music – 18 shows starting July 22nd in Atlantic City and concluding August 19th in Holmdel, NJ. Machan Taylor (former background vocalist for Pink Floyd) will join them as a special guest during these shows.
Gov’t Mule will open their tour with an extended Gov’t Mule set that leads into their critically acclaimed Dark Side of the Mule tribute to Pink Floyd music, first performed on Halloween 2008 and 10 times since. This summer’s tour marks the final performance of this highly praised show.
At their Pine Knob show, the band reinvented psychedelic rock classics into their distinctive musical style. Standout tracks included “Comfortably Numb”, characterized by heavy Hammond organ and Hohner clavinet fills from keyboardist Danny Louis; as well as an instrumental version of “Any Colour You Like”. Several tracks from Peace…Like a River was also performed in full effect.
Gov’t Mule stood out in an increasingly visual world by making full use of their stunning setting under a moonlit sky and taking advantage of every opportunity it provided them for musical expression. By channeling legendary bands while still creating their signature artistry, Gov’t Mule showed their ability to deliver memorable performances while keeping audiences satisfied.
Gov’t Mule opened their show with an impressive set of their original material, including “Suzanne” and “Mirror Mirror.” Following that performance of Dark Side of the Moon came an unforgettable encore of face-melting covers like an incredible rendition of “Wish You Were Here.” After leaving their performance, they hung around in the parking lot, talking with fans and friends until their departure later that evening – an evening they will never forget!
